Congratulations to Magdalena Szczotka, who won a Bronze
medal at the 2008 Universiade Games in Serbia. This is
the first Bronze medal ever won by a Canadian at the Universiade
Taekwondo Games. Eric Wah was also appointed
as an International Referee for the Games!

Featherweight National Title at
Team Trials
May 24th in Ottawa! Jessica will now represent
Canada at the Pan Am Championships in Puerto Rico in October.

Marcela Szczotka who each placed 2nd in their division!
Congratulations to our Tiger Team for their outstanding performance at the 2008 Provincial Tournament. With 14 athletes competing, Tigers brought home 12 GOLD medals and 2 SILVER! Gold medalists: Jessica Johnson, Kevin Mejia, Magdalena Szczotka, Marcela Szczotka, Michael Chung, Laurel Schell, Kaitlin Blankenau, Kyffer Cole, Alex Szczotka, Mikaila Allard, Tenille Hauer and Mitchell Lake. Silver medalists: Alfred Jong and Sashya Mackie.

2008 Olympic Bound! Tiger Member Dr. Terry DeFreitas
has been selected to attend the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a
member of the Canadian Olympic Committee Medical Team. The
Beijing Taekwondo event is scheduled for August 20th to 24th and Dr.
DeFreitas will be working with the Canadian Taekwondo athletes as
well as athletes from other sports.
Congratulations to
the Junior Tiger Team for their success at the 2007 Junior National
Championships, held June 30 - July 1 in Saint John, New Brunswick!
Jessica Johnson has succeeded in becoming Junior National
Champion, winning Gold in the Junior 'A' Welterweight division.
Jessica will be traveling with Team Canada to the Junior PanAm
Taekwondo Championships in Dayton Beach, FL in October.
Kevin Mejia won Silver in the Junior 'A' Flyweight division and
Laurel Schell won Bronze in the Junior 'A' Featherweight
division. Rebecca Reif also won Silver in the Junior
'B' Division.
We are pleased to announce a new partnership with Colchester School. Tiger Taekwondo will provide Taekwondo instruction during the day and an After-School Program! Members of the After-School program are also welcome to train at the Sherwood Park Club.
Congratulations to Eric Wah, International Referee,
for recently refereeing at the 2007 Dutch Open, 2007 German
Open and the 2007 Aruba Open.
Eric was also selected by Taekwondo Canada to accompany
Team Canada to Beijing, China for the 2007 Taekwondo World
Championships as Assistant Team Manager.

The Tiger Cubs made Sherwood Park parents proud March 31st at the
KS Cho Taekwondo Tournament in Winnipeg, winning 10 Gold, 6 Silver
and 2 Bronze. Overall, it was an excellent showing for these
junior athletes at their first ever National competition.
